I’ve been working with wood off and on my whole life and find it relaxing and enjoyable. I get a sense of achievement when my friends use and display my art in thier homes. Since I retired in 2018 I upgraded my wood shop and caught up with an old friend who is also retired and enjoys playing with wood. We combined our resources and have collaborated on many projects. The best thing about working with a partner is we can bounce ideas off of and learn from each other. Our mode-of-operation is to find trees that have been cut down by a local tree business and then call in a mill operation to cut the trees into planks. From there we prep, shape and finish the wood in to what ever may strike our fancy. Below are some pictures of my various projects and my shop. Dust Collection System
I quickly figured out that if I was going to work during the winter I'd need a dust collection system so I could work with the garage door down. Notice the hoses out the back of the equipment - the dust drops into the dust bucket that is powered by the ShopVac. Very little dust makes it into the ShopVac - even though it's still a good idea to clean the vacuum filter when you dump the dust bucket.
Craft Table
The first thing I did was build a craft table that could be easily stowed away. The sawhorse leg height is adjustable and the bracket that holds the sawhorses in place prevents the table top from flipping.
