Ben Woodruff's Website

Hello and welcome to my website. I've now been retired for a few years and have been spending much of my time golfing and working with wood. Lately I've been working with cherry wood. Cherry is a wonderful medium to play with, it is very hard, heavy, has beautiful grain patterns and polishes up quite nicely. I've been able to make some quality products most of which are in my study. To view what I have built so far click on the following link.

In 2014 I closed the doors on my software development business known as Ben Woodruff Information Services. It was a great 20-year run, I had lots of fun writing software and selling my products using this website. You may have known the software as Quick Quote, Payment Book, Coupon Book & Asset Tracking System. For those of you that purchased and used my software to help manage their businesses I thank you very much. Due to the migration of the information system landscape from desktop and laptop PC's to smart phones and tablets and the unfortunate fact that the tools I used to develop my software did not translate to smart phones and tablets very well I stopped selling my software. Although many of you have proposed to help me transition my software - at the time I did not have the personal time to invest in the venture. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with this website but I do plan to hold on to benwoodruff.com. For now, I'm going to post some of my favorite quotes and see where it goes. To my friends business and social please do not hesitate to drop me an e-mail to say hello or offer suggestions on what I might do with this site.

I was thinking the other day that I was always preparing for something whether it’s a small job or a long-term goal and that preparation for a job takes more time than the actual job itself. I then looked up preparation quotes and I found these two quotes on preparation by Abraham Lincoln.

Security is mostly a superstition. It does not exist in nature, nor do the children of men as a whole experience it. Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure. Life is either a daring adventure, or nothing.
